Welcome to an accessible world

Premier Platform Lifts is the provider of Ireland's most comprehensive range of platform lifts for disabled access.

Pierce’s Grain Store, Wexford

June 2009.

Pierce’s Grain Store, Paul’s Quay, Wexford town has seen the installation of the tallest platform lift in Ireland. The travel was a few centimetres under the 13m maximum allowed by law which was recently increased from 9m. Our A-Type lift was the first lift on the market to take advantage of this change and as a result we could supply the perfect solution.

The Grain Store is a listed building and it was not possible to install a passenger lift. The design of the A-Type, which has a fully self-supporting shaft, enabled Premier to provide a solution that not only enabled full access of the building but also minimised impact to the surrounding structure.

The ceiling heights were on the whole very low and this required Premier to fabricate custom height doors and frames on the majority of floors.

Our installation has enabled every part of the building to be fully wheelchair accessible with a fully Part M compliant solution.

Applegreen Service Station, M1 Motorway Balbriggan

April 2009.

When Applegreen started planning for the construction of a series of motorway service stations they came to Premier for design assistance and the supply of all the required lifts.

The service stations are innovative for the Irish market, being constructed on two levels and affording travellers the luxury of a peaceful upstairs seating area away from the hustle and bustle of the busy station forecourt and ground floor.

Our E-Type was selected for the first site on the M1 in Balbriggan, and was installed with a staircase that wraps around three sides of the lift. Applegreen chose a fully glazed shaft to ensure the lift fitted harmoniously within the open and spacious surroundings.

The next lift will be installed at the new site in Trim, Co. Meath during 2009.

Saint Malachy’s Church, Belfast

March 2009.

Premier Platform Lifts has installed an 8m, 3 floor platform lift with 60 minute fire rating at Saint Malachy’s Church in Belfast.

Premier was contacted by Consarc Conservation, part of the Consarc Design Group with a requirement for a 8m travel, 3 floor platform lift with 60 minute fire-rated doors. The lift was to be part of the full scale restoration program that was started in January 2008 with completion in 2009.

Consarc had already selected our A-Type ‘Rucsac’ model from our website as they could see from the typical drawings that its unique design with the guide frames on the narrow side of the platform, which enables installation in a very confined location, was ideal for what they were encountering at the church.

The A-Type is typical of our products and our most popular model. It dispensed with the standard requirements for a lift such as a pit and structural work, making it the perfect choice for Saint Malachy’s as this was a project that specified no alterations to the building other that what was strictly neccessary. The only requirement we had was for an opening to be made on the upper levels and the lift was mounted directly onto the floor.

All that was left was for the lift to be commisioned and handed over to Saint Malachy’s. It is now in regular use and ensures that full wheelchair access is possible throughout the church.

Hugo Boss, Sloane Square

Our partnering company in the UK was approached by the Hugo Boss project management company, Hilson Moran & L & H Solutions, to supply a special type of passenger lift to their flagship and prestigious Sloane Square store.

Faced with an awkward challenge to design, manufacture and install a bespoke glazed and stainless steel passenger lift within a 10 to 12 week period, in a listed building with limited headroom and only a 300mm pit it was clearly going to take some sort of miracle.

Close liaison was established with the DTI, Hilson Moran lift consultants and the building contractor, all parties dug deep and a world-class solution was designed.

This custom lift was installed in March to a fantastic reception and is a key feature of the Hugo Boss Flagship store.

“The lift is a key feature of the store
